Ruth A. Miller formerly of Dieterich, Illinois passed away at 7:00 PM Thursday, January 1, 2009 at the Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham, IL.

Funeral services celebrating Ruth's life will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, January 8, 2009 at the St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Dieterich with Pastor Stephen Gillet officiating. Burial will be in the Dieterich Village Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Blake-Wright Funeral Home and one half hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. John's Luteran Church.

Ruth was born October 16, 1908 in Mattoon, Illinois the daughter of Henry and Ida (Kruger) Ebeling. She was employed at Norge-Fedders Corp in Effingham for 26 years, retiring in 1973. She was a life long member of the St. John's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting and playing cards.

Ruth is survived by a daughter Wanda (Alfred) Fult of Dieterich; a grandson Bradley (Mary) Fulk of Hereford, AZ; 2 great grandchildren Brooklyn and Courtney Fulk of Hereford, AZ.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers Walter and Edward ebeling.


Doris "Jean" Shull Age 84

Jean Shull of rural Greenup, Illinois passed into eternal life on January 1, 2009 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.   

Funeral services celebrating Jean's life were held at 12:00 on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Bishop Funeral Home in Greenup with Rev. Roger James officiating.  Burial was in the Greenup Cemetery.  Visitation was held 2 hours prior to the servcie at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Greenup Ambulance Service, Plum Grove Church or donor's choice. 

Jean was born in Greenup on July 6, 1924 the daughter of William and Sylvia Markwell.  She is survived by her husband Don Shull; two sons Steve (Sharon) Shull of Newton and Stan Shull of Charleston, IL; two grandsons Brent (Dianna Lynne) Shull of Dieterich and Brian (Jaime) Shull of Greenup; a precious great grand-daughter, Breanna Lynne Shull of Dieterich and a brother Max (Maribel) Markwell of Greenup.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Don Markwell.

Jean lived an active, full, rewarding life with her lifelong sweatheart and husband of 63 years.  Jean wrote to Don everyday for four years during his military service to his country in WWII; son November 10, 1945 after his return, they were married in Olney, Illinois.  Jean was employed at Ettelbrick Shoe Factory in Greenup and later, the ASCS office in Toledo.  "Grandma Shull" loved gardening, fishing, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, cooking, baking, visiting and especially, mushroom hunting and dancing with her great-granddaughter.  As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Jean, "GG" will be remembered with both admiration and love.
