Marinda was born December 16, 1935 in Willow Springs, MO to James Martin and Sarah Estelle (Curley) Murrell.   She was one of seven siblings living in rural Missouri.   At the age of eighteen she moved to Spingfield, MO to live with her sister, Norma, and work at St. John's Hospital as a nurse assistant.   It was there that she met and fell in love with John Nick Katsorelos, a member of the U.S. Air Force.   She and John married shortly after on February 20, 1955 in Fordland, MO and moved to Harrisonburg, Virginia where they had their first child, Anthea Grace.   In 1956, John's work led them to Newton, Illinois where they settled for the majority of their 53 years of marriage.   There, Marinda gave birth to two more children, Tony Nick and Pamela Lea.

Marinda lived a fun and fulfilling life.   Her endearing personality touched the lives of many as she knew no strangers.   While in Newton, Marinda's genial soul permeated the town.   She welcomed all into her home for amusement, support, respite, and fine suisine.   Many knew her as a missionary supporting children who needed a mother figure and providing shelter to abandoned animals.   Others knew her as the matriach, hosting family gatherings and keeping everyone in line.   To her grandchildren, "Ma" was not the typical grandmother.   She represented all that was fun and exciting in life and always telling us, "I love your more."

"Rin" was active in the community as a member of the Junior Women's Club, the women's bowling league, NCHS band boosters, Jasper County Country Club and was a supporter of the Jasper County Shrine Club.   She was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Newton.   For several years, she entertained guests at her restaurant, Marinda Lea's.   One of her favorite activities was "road tripping" through the country with her friends learning about Jasper County.   She spent the last years of ther life focusing on family, flowers and friendship and enjoying life with her husband at Lake Jasper.

She is survived by her loving husband, John Nick Katsorelos; three chidlren Anthea (John) Zumbahlen of Newton, Tony (Robyn) Katsorelos of Leawood, Kansas and Pamela (John) Burton of Overland Park, Kansas.   She had several grandchildren Sarah (Daniel) Weiler of Geneva, IL, Lucas Zumbahlen of Newton, Alexandra and Austin Katsorelos of Leawood, KS, Michelle, Mackenzie and Sydney Burton of Overland Park, KS.   She also leaves behind her faithful animal companions and several "adopted" family members.   She was preceded in death by her parents as well as two sisters Ruth Wright and Lois Crider.
