Jasper County Relay for Life: June 6 & 7, 2008. Jasper
County Fairgrounds. Friday 6:00 PM opening ceremony to Saturday
6:00 AM closing ceremony. Survivor's Banquet TBA
Nick's Race: Saturday, June TBA Sam Parr State Park
The race is 2.85 miles around the high school cross-country course. There's
also a 2 mile walk for those who want to walk. Race benefits
a scholarship in memory of Nick Volk, who was killed along with three
other NCHS students in an auto accident in May 2002. Funds
from the race benefit the Gift of Hope organization (organ donation),
the NCHS Cross Country team, the high school drum line and a scholarship
fund.
Jasper County Fair: June 29-July 5, 2008 - Jasper
County Fair Grounds - Motocross, Demolition Derby, Fair Queen Pageant,
Tractor and Truck pulls
Plainfield Church Car Show Sunday, July 13, 2008 - 9:00 AM

School - Field show competition amoung several high school bands.

Homecoming: October TBA - Parade in the afternoon, Football
game at 7:00 PM, Alumni activities all weekend, including a Banquet

Hauntings Within: October TBA - North side of the square
Newton. Jasper County's only haunted house experience. Proceeds
go to the Star Step Gym, whose members put together the haunted house.
Taste of Jasper County: October 21, 2008 - Newton
Knights of Columbus Hall, Showcase of flavors, favors and aromas

Veteran's Day Program: November 11, 2008 - Court House
Lawn Display of Flags, program with music
Arndt's Hallmark Christmas Open House: November - Located
on the south side of the square in Newton, Arndt's offers Hallmark products,
delectable fudge and several gift items.
Jasper Artisan's Open House: Thanksgiving weekend -
November 28, 29 & 30. Jasper Artisans on the square showcases
local carfts and artwork for sale
Holiday Open House: Saturday, December 1, 2008 - Sunrise
Community Youth Center. Local sales consultants and businesses
providing their products and services for all your holiday shopping needs
Holly Jolly Jasper County Christmas: Newton Square, December
5, 12, 19, 2008 - Christmas celebration to honor Jasper County-born
Burl Ives. Shops stay open later, Santa and characters from the
cartoon "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" visit with families on the square Friday
nights during the celebration. Entertainment provided by local
churches and clubs, horse and bubby rides, weekly giveaways
Santa Train: December TBA, 2008 Newton Illinois
Visit with Santa as he makes a special stop in Newton.
